Interior and exterior paint brand Glidden by PPG has unveiled its 2024 Color of the Year: a warm, fresh take on neutrals dubbed Limitless.

Claiming the strapline ‘anything but yellow’ the color for 2024 is a honey-toned beige that captures the statement quality of a primary color, whilst balancing the subtlety and versatility of classic neutrals.

Designed for homeowners and interior designers alike, this new color trend works effortlessly to compliment a wide range of design styles, whether that's as a soft backdrop color to anchor the home, or styled in a bolder way to make a statement.

'We are entering a new era of explosive creativity and change. Consumers are using color in even more unconventional ways than ever before and they need a palette that offers versatility to work with both new and existing decor,' explains Ashley McCollum, PPG color expert for the Glidden brand. 'Limitless understands the assignment and embodies this perfectly.'

Echoing the notable shift the interior design world is seeing away from cool-toned grays – which in years gone by were a firm-favorite as a base color in the home – Limitless embodies the much-welcomed shift towards warmer neutral tones that are becoming increasingly popular.

'Warm neutrals are here to stay, replacing cool tones like gray for both DIY and pro segments in 2024 and beyond,' McCollum explains.

Designed to compliment both warm and cool-toned color palettes, the 2024 hue offers lots of versatility for use, with Glidden color stylists predicting that Limitless will be embraced in both interior and exterior spaces in the home and beyond.

Opt to keep things traditional and use the color on four walls in a room to create an elegant feel; or as Glidden color experts suggest, you can welcome a bolder look by embracing color drenching. Color drenching is a popular design trend that sees one paint color carried across all elements of a room, such as doors, trims, and ceiling in addition to the walls, which is perfect for creating a cocoon-like feel in cozy living room ideas.

Alternatively, you can pair Limitless with other tones to create maximalist decor ideas, as McCollum adds: 'Think of Limitless as a fresh and energizing take on a neutral. Limitless can be your main room color or act as an invigorating pop against warm or cool tones.'

If you prefer a more subtle introduction to the new shade in your home, opt to embrace kitchen trends by using the paint on cabinets, as shown above, to bring some warmth into your space without overpowering the room.

You can also choose to paint a singular feature wall with Limitless, such as in the bedroom ideas to create a calming feel to the room that elevates an otherwise all-white space.
